Today, Thursday, the founder of Google Crowdsource in Iraq, Bokan Jaff, told Kurdsat English that Google has officially added the Kurdish Sorani to its Crowdsource. Google Crowdsource is a way for people to use their abilities to contribute to building Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The founder noted that Google needs over 700 hours of recorded voice to be included in "Google's voice system," and now the Kurdish language has taken a "historic step" at the global level.

"Over a thousand people need to donate their voices to gather enough data for activating the google translate voiceover," Bokan Jaff told KurdSat English.

In May, Google added 24 more languages to its translation service, including Kurdish Sorani, bringing the number of languages it supports to 133.

Google Translate is a free multilingual automatic translator with spelling, speech, and image translations, as well as live translations of websites and streaming videos. Kurdish Sorani at Google translate helps over 50 million Kurds translate texts that are not in their mother tongue, an impediment to learning in front of many Kurds in the world.
