A member of the Transportation and Communications Committee of the House of Representatives, Karwan Yarwais, told Kurdsat that taxes on telecommunications companies have increased in recent years due to budget deficits, and increased taxes on telecommunications companies have increased carrier prices, but now the Transportation and Communications Board has sent a bill on the matter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Citing Iraq's improved finances, the PM argued for tax cuts on telecommunication companies.

Yarwais added that "the committee has approved the proposal, they expect the budget bill, that includes the cut to be sent to the House of Representatives soon."

A large portion of Iraqi citizens use cell phones, and most of those are young people who usually find carrier prices expensive.
