The kidnappers accused the villagers of collaborating with the autonomous administration of East Syria. Turkey considers Rojava a terrorist corridor as it's ruled by the People's Protection Units, a political force Ankara relates to the PKK. 

"In the last two months 85 Kurds have been kidnapped by Turkish backed armed groups in the areas of Afrin." Said Ibrahim Sheikho, spokesperson of the organization for Human rights in Afrin-Syria.
