Iraq's al-Karkh court requests Maliki's leaked audio recording

The first judge of the al- Karkh Investigation Court said that a complaint had been filed against Nuri al-Maliki, the leader of the Rule of Law Coalition, over the leaked audio recordings.

He said the court received the complainants' statements and asked the Cyber Crimes Department from the Interior Ministry's Directorate of Technology and Information to send the court a copy of the recordings.

The supreme judge of the al-Karkh Investigation Court said the court had also decided to take a statement from the site owner that published the audio recordings and was waiting to receive his address to send him a notice.

Iraqi activist and journalist Ali Fadel, who resides in the United States, published an audio leak attributed to Al-Maliki, in which he dealt with some issues, most notably his relationship with the Sadrists. In the leaked audios, Maliki also accused the chief of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, of seeking to strike the Shiites by embracing the displaced Sunnis, as well as their leaders.

Israeli Defense Minister announces 'complete siege' on Gaza

Earlier on Sunday, footage from both Ashkelon and Sderot cities also showed army tanks in the streets as they reportedly moved towards the border with Gaza.

On Saturday, Hamas launched its biggest attack on Israel in decades, firing thousands of rockets and sending fighters who infiltrated Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip. The group said its attack was in response to Israeli violations in the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem and increased settler violence.

At least 700 Israelis, including 73 Israeli soldiers, have been killed and over 2,300 others wounded in the attack, according to the Israeli Health Ministry.

Israel retaliated, with the Israeli army initiating Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas with a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 430 Palestinians and wounding at least 2,300 others.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to use all of Israel’s strength to destroy Hamas’ capabilities and “take revenge for this black day.”
